A Student’s Creed

A Student’s Creed

Today, this new day, I am a successful student. Overnight my mind and body have produced thousands of new cells to give me the greatest advantages possible. I am born anew, revitalized, and full of energy.

I am rare and valuable; unique in all the universe. I am nature’s greatest miracle in action. I have unlimited potential. I believe in my abilities, attitudes, and goals. I am worthy of greatness because I am the most important person in my world.

Today I push myself to new limits. I use my skills and knowledge every day. I begin the day with a success and end it with a success. My goals are being reached every day and I seek them eagerly.

I act positively and happily, fully accepting myself and others. I live to the fullest by experiencing life without limits. I embrace life. I approach each class, each book, and each assignment with enthusiasm, happiness and joy. I thirst for knowledge. I look forward to reading and believing this creed each and every day.

I am a positive and successful student. I know each step I must take to continue to be that way. I am clear on my goals and see myself reaching them. I now realize my infinite potential, thus, my burden lightens. I smile and laugh. I have become the greatest student in the world.

Travel Guide for Friendship

Travel Guide for Friendship

T is for TRUST
Trust is the glue that holds people together (not Super Glue). A relationship will go nowhere without it.

R is for RESPECT
“Do not save your loving speeches for your friends till they are dead; do not write them on their tombstones, speak them rather now instead,” writes Anna Cummins. It’s about respecting others and letting them know that you value them.

A is for AFFECTION
Sometimes affection means love. Sometimes it means a touch. Always it means kindness.

V is for VULNERABILITY
Though we may feel afraid to let another too close, no relationship will go anywhere without risking vulnerability. Entrepreneur Jim Rohn says, “The walls we build around us to keep out the sadness also keep out the joy.” And the love.

E is for EMOTIONAL INTIMACY
Learn to be open. Learn to communicate freely. What kinds of relationships you make are largely determined by how openly you have learned to communicate.

L is for LAUGHTER
Victor Borge got it right when he said, “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.” It’s also the most enjoyable.

For relationships that can really go somewhere, just remember the word “TRAVEL”. Then enjoy the trip!

Father’s Advice To His Son

Father’s Advice To His Son

When Eric was getting ready to return to college after a semester break, his Dad gave him some sheets of paper containing hand-written words of advice for further reflection. A number of Eric’s friends asked if they, too, could read these words of wisdom from a father to his son.

01. Dwell on the future, not the past. What’s done is done, the future is the only thing you can have an impact on.
02. Ask God for forgiveness and move on. God always forgives the faithful.
03. Don’t feel as though you must bare your soul to others. This puts a burden on them. Go on a “need to know” basis.
04. This too will pass, if you want it to. Mature, healthy relationships combat the desire to falter.
05. Take solace from your relationship with God and those you love.
06. Focus on the positive and use it. Reflect on your gains and build on your strengths. Let go of your failures.
07. Nobody is perfect, not even you (or me). There will always be failings and temptations. That is what the Devil does for a living!
08. Count your blessings, nurture your faith. Thank God everyday for who you are. Move on through this earthly existence as best you can.
09. Enjoy life! Leave a legacy for your children to follow. That’s all we really can do.
10. I love you.

(P.S.) Call your mother.
