Easy & Hard

It’s easy to ..., but it’s hard to ...

  1. It’s easy to have a place in someone’s address, but it’s hard to find a place in someone’s heart.
  2. It’s easy to judge someone’s mistake, but it’s hard to recognize your own mistake.
  3. It’s easy to talk without thinking, but it’s hard to know how to control your own words.
  4. It’s easy to hurt a person you love, but it’s hard to heal that hurt.
  5. It’s easy to forgive someone, but it’s hard to perfect yourself so that someone can forgive you.
  6. It’s easy to make rules, but it’s hard to follow them.
  7. It’s easy to dream every night, but it’s hard to fight for a dream.
  8. It’s easy to express your victory, but it’s hard to acknowledge failure.
  9. It’s easy to stumble and fall down, but it’s hard to stand up and go ahead.
  10. It’s easy to promise something to someone, but it’s hard to fulfil that promise.
  11. It’s easy for us to say that we love each other, but it’s hard for us to make someone feel it everyday.
  12. It’s easy to criticize someone, but it’s hard to improve yourself.
  13. It’s easy to make mistakes, but it’s hard to learn from them.
  14. It’s easy to be sad because something has lost, but it’s hard to take enough care of it in order not to lose it.
  15. It’s easy to think about something, but it’s hard to stop thinking and start acting.
  16. It’s easy to think bad about someone, but it’s hard to give him belief.
  17. It’s easy to take, but it’s hard to give.
  18. It’s easy for us to read these things, but it’s hard for us to do them.
  19. If chances haven’t knocked your door, you should consider whether you’ve already built a door or not.

The Day Before You Came (1981) (ABBA The Visitors)

Must have left my house at eight, because I always do.
My train, Im certain, left the station just when it was due.
I must have read the morning paper going into town,
And having gotten through the editorial, no doubt I must have frowned.
I must have made my desk around a quarter after nine,
With letters to be read, and heaps of papers waiting to be signed.
I must have gone to lunch at half past twelve, or so,
The usual place, the usual bunch.
And still on top of this Im pretty sure it must have rained,
The day before you came.

I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two,
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue.
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day,
Without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away.
At five I must have left, there's no exception to the rule.
A matter of routine, I've done it ever since I finished school.
The train back home again,
Undoubtedly, I must have read the evening paper then.
Oh, yes, I'm sure my life was well within its usual frame,
The day before you came

Must have opened my front door at eight o'clock, or so.
And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go.
Im sure I had my dinner watching something on TV.
There's not, I think, a single episode of dallas that I didn't see.
I must have gone to bed around a quarter after ten.
I need a lot of sleep, and so I'd like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while the latest one by Marilyn French, or something in that style
It's funny, but I had no sense of living without aim,
The day before you came.

And turning out the light,
I must have yawned and cuddled up for yet another night.
And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain,
The day before you came.

One Of Us (1981) (ABBA The Visitors)

They passed me by, all of those great romances.
You were, I felt, robbing me of my rightful chances.
My picture clear, everything seemed so easy.
And so I dealt you the blow.
One of us had to go.
Now it's different, I want you to know.

One of us is crying,
One of us is lying,
In her lonely bed,
Staring at the ceiling,
Wishing she was somewhere else, instead.
One of us is lonely,
One of us is only,
Waiting for a call
Sorry for herself, feeling stupid, feeling small.
Wishing she had never left at all.

I saw myself as a concealed attraction.
I felt you kept me away from the heat and the action.
Just like a child, stubborn and misconceiving
That's how I started the show.
One of us had to go.
Now I've changed and I want you to know.

One of us is crying,
One of us is lying,
In her lonely bed,
Staring at the ceiling,
Wishing she was somewhere else, instead.
One of us is lonely,
One of us is only,
Waiting for a call,
Sorry for herself, feeling stupid, feeling small,
Wishing she had never left at all,
Never left at all.

Staring at the ceiling,
Wishing she was somewhere else, instead.
One of us is lonely,
One of us is only,
Waiting for a call.

The Way Old Friends Do (1980) (ABBA Super Trouper)

You and I can share the silence,
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do.
And after fights and words of violence,
We make up with each other
The way old friends do.

Times of joy and times of sorrow,
We will always see it through.
Oh, I don't care what comes tomorrow
We can face it together
The way old friends do.

You and I can share the silence,
Finding comfort together
The way old friends do.
And after fights and words of violence,
We make up with each other
The way old friends do.

Times of joy and times of sorrow,
We will always see it through.
Oh, I don't care what comes tomorrow.
We can face it together
The way old friends do.

We can face it together
The way old friends do.

The Piper (1980) (ABBA Super Trouper)

They came from the hills,
And they came from the valleys and the plains.
They struggled in the cold,
In the heat and the snow and in the rain.
Came to hear him play,
Play their minds away.

We're all following a strange melody.
We're all summoned by a tune.
We're following the piper
And we dance beneath the moon.
We're following the piper,
And we dance beneath the moon for him,
And we dance beneath the moon.

They came from the South
From the West, and the North, and from the East.
They waited for the man
Like a parish is waiting for the priest.
Longed to hear him play
Play their minds away.

We're all following a strange melody.
We're all summoned by a tune.
We're following the piper,
And we dance beneath the moon.
We're following the piper,
And we dance beneath the moon for him,
And we dance beneath the moon.

He came in a dream.
He seduced everybody in the land.
The fire in his eyes
And the fear was a weapon in his hand.
So they let him play
Play their minds away.

We're all following a strange melody.
We're all summoned by a tune.
We're following the piper,
And we dance beneath the moon.
We're following the piper,
And we dance beneath the moon for him,
And we dance beneath the moon.

Our Last Summer (1980) (ABBA Super Trouper)

The summer air was soft and warm
The feeling right, the Paris night
Did its best to please us.
And strolling down the Elysee
We had a drink in each cafe.
And you
You talked of politics, philosophy and I
Smiled like Mona Lisa.
We had our chance.
It was a fine and true romance.

I can still recall our last summer.
I still see it all.
Walks along the Seine, laughing in the rain
Our last summer.
Memories that remain.

We made our way along the river,
And we sat down in the grass
By the Eiffel Tower.
I was so happy we had met.
It was the age of no regret.
Oh, yes.
Those crazy years, that was the time
Of the flower-power.
But underneath we had a fear of flying
Of getting old, a fear of slowly dying
We took the chance
Like we were dancing our last dance.

I can still recall our last summer.
I still see it all.
In the tourist jam, round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand.

Paris restaurants.
Our last summer.
Morning croissants.
Living for the day, worries far away.
Our last summer
We could laugh and play.

And now you're working in a bank
The family man, the football fan.
And your name is Harry.
How dull it seems
Yet you're the hero of my dreams.

I can still recall our last summer.
I still see it all.
Walks along the Seine, laughing in the rain
Our last summer.
Memories that remain.
I can still recall our last summer.
I still see it all.
In the tourist jam, round the Notre Dame
Our last summer.
Walking hand in hand.
Paris restaurants.
Our last summer.
Morning croissants.
Living for the day, worries far away.
